چکیده
Goal: This paper introduces an automated post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) screening tool that could potentially be used as a self-assessment or inserted into routine medical visits for PTSD diagnosis and treatment. xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Methods: With emotion estimation algorithm providing arousal (excited to calm) valence (pleasure displeasure) levels through discourse, we select regions of the acoustic signal are most salient detection. Our was tested on subset data from DVBIC-TBICoE TBI Study, which contains Check List Civilian (PCL-C) assessment scores. xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Results: Speech low-arousal positive-valence provide best discrimination PTSD. model achieved AUC (area under curve) equal 0.80 in detecting PCL-C ratings, outperforming models with no filtering (AUC = 0.68). xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Conclusions: result suggests drives selection temporal audio recording

An Emotion-Driven Interactive System
Emotion-based interactive music systems have great application potential, namely in entertainment and healthcare. This paper describes an installation that explores the interactive capabilities of EDME, an emotionbased music engine we are developing. At the core of the installation there is an affective computer system that selects appropriate music and images to express its emotional state. Th...
متن کاملUniversal vocal signals of emotion
Emotional signals allow for the sharing of important information with conspecifics, for example to warn them of danger. Humans use a range of different cues to communicate to others how they feel, including facial, vocal, and gestural signals. Although much is known about facial expressions of emotion, less research has focused on affect in the voice. We compare British listeners to individuals...
متن کاملThe Vocal Expression of Emotion: An Acoustic Analysis of Anxiety
During conversations, speakers are assumed to provide information about their emotional state. This study is a systematic investigation of the voice characteristics of the emotion of anxiety. For this purpose speech samples of 63 subjects were collected in a situation which induced mild anxiety. On the basis of the acoustic measurements it appears that anxiety affects vocal parameters and showe...
متن کاملAn Ambient Tool for Emotion and Communication
In this paper the authors present the BioCrystal – a biofeedback device that uses physiological data to evaluate user’s affective states in real-time and signals the states via an ambient display. The authors evaluated the BioCrystal during a 2-week, in situ multi-method study during which ten users collected over 115 hours of usable data. Users’ comments suggested high utility of such a biofee...
متن کاملAn SMT-driven Authoring Tool
This paper presents a tool for assisting users in composing texts in a language they do not know. While Machine Translation (MT) is pretty useful for understanding texts in an unfamiliar language, current MT technology has yet to reach the stage where it can be used reliably without a post-editing step. This work attempts to make a step towards achieving this goal. We propose a tool that provid...
